Dentist that doesn’t charge a fortune

I have been taking my teen boys to the same dentist for regular check-ups for 10 years now (my husband and I also go there).
At the last examination (2 days ago) I was informed that one of my sons needs 9 fillings. Each filling is going to cost either $140 or $160, a total of $1,300
I think this is appalling considering it was only 8 months ago that he had his last check-up.
Surely some of these fillings should’ve already been needed then.
Why was it not picked up then?
I’ve done the right thing with taking them for regular check-ups, just so that I don’t have a situation like this, yet they let it get to this point and have the audacity to charge me $160 for a filling the size of a pin head (if that!)
Please, there’s got to be a cheaper option.

Dr Tony Dineen from healsville dental surgery is fantastic and very reasonably priced.
My husband consults him regularly and my kids have too in the past. We have often commented on how great the service is and how cheap he charges compared to other dentists. healsville is approx 20 mins drive from ringwood but well worth the effort.
Good Luck with your son. We cant rate this dentist high enough and Im sure your bill will be nothing like that quote. he will also quote if you need him to.
What area do you live in Rikki?. My dentist is good but not cheap. My two daughters have good dentists who are also mindful for small children’s costs and act accordingly.
A previous dentist in this area that was “very cheap” turned out to be a terrible dentist, leaving a packing out of the filling and me in absolute agony..I never forgot the experience as with tail between my legs, and in tears of pain, I returned to my “expensive” dentist to have the stuff up repaired…..So much for my husband’s bargain hunting for a dentist!
